ZA MOTI JIBU...

From the foregoing it follows that the German firms are compelled to ask for the fullest protection and financial compensa- -tion from the Imperial Government.

We propose therefore that, not only the losses sustained by us, as already set forth, be made good, but that further as compensation for our annihilation and the destruction of our busines -es, the value of the latter to a certain extent be returned to us and we beg that this our claim be considered at the settling of war

indemity.

Te estimate the value of our businesses, which have been destroyed by England's commercial war, at a moderate assessment, on the average capital of the last ten years. Reckoning according to the average Hongkong rate of 6% p. a. it works out as approximately seventeen times the annual profit.

We must again urge the seriousness of the situation and we cannot call the attention of the Imperial Government emphatically

enough to the urgency and necessity of such compensation.

As the heads of the following firms: -
